Notwithstanding the high environmental standards integrated in EU policies at all levels, European states face concrete environmental challenges due to the complexities and spillovers of industrial and technological advancements.

Project TOPICs:

The European Environmental Agency highlighted in its report (2010), identified the transition towards a green economy as one of the changes needed to secure the long-term sustainability of European societies.
Despite several short- improvements, the achievement of the goals set for 2020 is, according to the Agency, limited by persisting issues in terms of insufficient protection of the natural capital, uncertain effects of resource-efficiency policies and impact of pollution on human health.

EnvironMend (EM) involved 40 youngsters from 8 countries

APPROACH / METHODOLOGY

Inspired by the work of the “Working Committee for Nature and Environmental Education” (ANU), and “Nature Detectives” successful programmes regarding environment and sustainability, Nest Berlin members thought that it was time to improve this type of education with NFE activities.

Promoting the growth of grassroots sustainable behaviours concretely promoting environmental sustainability.
