REMODE – Unlocking Circular Fashion Design Excellence

The EU is driving a major shift toward sustainable fashion to reduce the industry’s environmental and social impact. With 160,000 companies employing 1.5 million people, the textile sector is a major player in the EU economy but also one of the most environmentally damaging industries, generating 5.8 million tonnes of textile waste annually.
To address this, the EU has introduced policies like the Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles, the Eco-design Regulation, and the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), all aimed at making the entire fashion lifecycle more sustainable. These policies encourage the use of eco-friendly materials, better recycling methods, and responsible consumer behavior.
This is where ReMODE comes in. The project is dedicated to upskilling and reskilling professionals in the textile and fashion industry to align with the EU’s green and digital transition. By establishing five Centers of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) in Turkey, Greece, Italy, Germany, and Finland, ReMODE will create learning hubs of excellence that offer innovative and adaptable training programs. These centers will bring together industry leaders, educators, and policymakers to develop cutting-edge curricula tailored to the evolving demands of sustainable fashion.
At its core, ReMODE is about empowering the workforce to meet the needs of an industry in transformation – ensuring that sustainability is not just a trend but the foundation of the future of fashion.
