Sport Activities to Foster Entrepreneurship

NEST Berlin carried out a Erasmus Plus Multi-Activity project called “Sport Activities to Foster Entrepreneurship”. SAFE is a multi-activity project composed of a TC “The Treasure Behind Sport” (Berlin, Germany); and a YE “The Youth SporTtrepreneur” (Bonn, Germany). The project “Sport Activities to Foster Entrepreneurship” involved 24 youth workers and youth leaders (TC) and 45 Youngsters (YE), in an educational itinerary aimed at providing them with knowledge, skills and NFE tool to foster social inclusion, personal development and community engagement of disadvantaged youth categories (NEETs, youngsters from marginalized rural areas) in partner countries. Sport is an effective instrument to counter the effects of apathy through involving final youth targets in educationally meaningful activities increasing their self-confidence, participation and entrepreneurial skills in a life-long learning perspective.

Project TOPICs:

As sports is a tool of personal development and the soft skills development contributing to active citizenship and entrepreneurial spirit is the need of the time. Role of youth sport initiatives encourages the youth to develop new opportunities at the community level. They gain skills, knowledge and insight on Entrepreneurship in Sport and also develop project ideas for inclusion and active citizenship through sport Inter-cultural learning experiences through people from eight countries. Knowledge on using Non-Formal Education in Sports is shared.

SAFE aims to:

-Promote European and Euro-Med cooperation;

-Develop a sustainable network among organizations in the youth field and sport;

-Stimulate capacity building, entrepreneurial thinking, and engagement through Sport for young people;

-Reflect and exchange opinions/researches about entrepreneurial education through Sport in different European and Mediterranean countries;

-Share examples of good practices combating youth exclusion through sport;

Project ACTIVITIES

The two related and interconnected activities of the project were organised in Berlin and Bonn:

A1 TC “The Treasure Behind Sport”: Administering an educational itinerary aimed at providing them with knowledge, skills and NFE tool to foster social inclusion, personal development and community engagement of disadvantaged youth categories (NEETs, youngsters from marginalized rural areas) in partner countries.

A2 YE “The Youth SporTtrepreneur”: Helping participants to understand sport’s role as a tool of personal development; Cultivating participants’ soft skills that are contributing to active citizenship and entrepreneurial spirit; -Exploring the role of youth sport initiatives as a tool to develop new opportunities to be involved in their local communities.
