ABSTRACT:
There is a growing mismatch between individual demand for sport and the supply of facilities that adequately meet it. The public offer of sports spaces is designed in a reductive way, based mainly on traditional sports infrastructures that are monopolized by the usual sports practices. The driving principles of the project are: transform the unused or underused potential of schoolyards into valuable community resources to support new forms of PA and grassroots sport opportunities; contribute to refurbish/upgrade/maintain(out)dated school external areas and/or provide new roofed areas for polyvalent sporting destination; improve quantity but also quality of both physical education curricula and grassroots sport supply, by focusing on multifunctional schoolyards to favour the development of innovative multisport programmes; empower local people to invest in and care for the schoolyards within CoP that shares a common concern toward local quality sport facilities.
