Goals 5

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Gender bias is undermining our social fabric and devalues all of us. It is not just a human rights issue; it is a tremendous waste of the world’s human potential. By denying women equal rights, we deny half the population a chance to live life at its fullest. Political, economic and social equality for women will benefit all the world’s citizens. Together we can eradicate prejudice and work for equal rights and respect for all.

RELATED PROJECTS

@nclusion

Today, the ever-growing migrant population has become an inseparable part of the EU society. While refugees and non-EU migrants already face higher risks of social exclusion, those in the LGBTQI+ community are even more vulnerable. As a result, @nclusion aims to improve sensitization towards LGBTQI+ migrants by fostering cooperation between local authorities, LGBTQI+ organizations, and migrant organizations.

Diversity of Voices

EU Diversity Voices: Amplifying Europe's LGBTQ+, Minority, Women and the Unheard Voices

The project celebrates the EU's achievements in human rights, promoting awareness of conventions and treaties that advance women’s empowerment, LGBTQ+ rights, minority inclusion, and gender equality while addressing hate speech.

Voices of Change

The Voices Of Change project aims to engage young girls, especially those with a migratory background, in democratic participation by establishing a European Consultative Body for Migrant Girls Civic Engagement. By involving both migrant and local girls, the project seeks to promote cultural understanding and respect while increasing awareness of rights and EU values. The project aims to strengthen democratic participation, communicate concerns to policymakers, and enhance the operational capabilities of the consultative body.

U-POWER

Women constitute 52% of the total European population, but just one third of the EU self-employed and of the start-up entrepreneurs. Starting a business or deciding to become self-employed appears to be a rather masculine prerogative and projections reveal that pre-existing gender gaps in the labour market, and in particular in entrepreneurship, will be amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic.
